KDHE Hires Rural Health Director

The KDHE Office of Local and Rural Health is very pleased to announce that
Gloria Vermie has been named Rural Health Director for KDHE. Gloria will
assume her duties on January 3, 2006. The rural health position has been vacant since 2003, when former Director Chris Tilden was named Interim Director of the Office of Local and Rural Health. He was named permanent director of OLRH earlier this year. Gloria will take over management of the Rural Hospital Flexibility Program and the Small Hospital Improvement program, and will coordinate activities in OLRH that impact rural health system around the state.

Gloria has served as the Public Health Program Coordinator at the Sedgwick County Health Department for the past four years. She is returning to state government; before coming to Kansas Gloria worked in health promotion at the state health department in Iowa. She earned her undergraduate degree from Drake University and received her masterís in Public Health Science from Wichita State University.
